Troopers cracking down on dangerous drivers along I-59 corridor

If you’re planning on driving between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa within the month, be sure to leave your road rage at point A.

As part of a public safety initiative, Alabama State Troopers are going to be cracking down on unsafe drivers. The program is called TACT: Ticket Aggressive Cars and Trucks and it focuses on the unsafe driving behaviors that contribute to serious and fatal crashes between personal and commercial motor vehicles, according to a release from the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

The project will put the focus on Interstate 59 between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa through the end of June. Drivers will notice TACT billboards as well as an increase in intense enforcement.

Officials are going to be looking for drivers who are speeding, changing lanes unsafely and without signaling, following too closely, failing to yield to the right of way, driving aggressively and with risk—behaviors that can lead to serious crashes.
